1 button on taskbar per open application

I want this all the time, not just when there r too many to show.
How can I set this??

Do you mean that, for example, if you have two IE windows open, you
only have one taskbar button? If so, get TweakUI XP from Microsoft.
It will allow you to set how many open windows an application needs
before it will group them. Setting it to "2" will cause it to group
them all.

Hopeing that I understand you, but try this;
Right-click 'Taskbar' / select 'Properties' / select 'Taskbar' tab /
Untick (fourth tickbox down); 'Group similar taskbar buttons'
