+1 and Area Code in Fax

Outlook Contacts, does anyone know how to remove the +1 and the parentheses (000) around the area code? I have a fax program that uses Outlook Contacts but cannot have the 1 or parens on the fax number
 
From new or existing Contacts?
Every fax program I know actually requires the format you are trying to
eliminate, so you have a third party problem.
