I really was looking forward to getting the new
version.What a disappointment.It really is
dreadful.Hopefully Microsoft will take careful note of
what is being said on this forum and then perhaps we will
have a proper version next time.
I supose it is something to look forward to

What do you mean? The version 1.0.613 is available to download for users,
even automatic update "catches" it, so why do you complain?

It's not available, so far. "File-->Check for updates" says that "most
recent software installed".

This is only a refresh update with minor fixes to some of the annoying
problems we have been encountering:

Here is list of known fixes, this is not a beta 2 release, just interim:
1) Software expiration will be extended to December 31, 2005.
2) Alerts Moving Quickly Across the Screen : Messages which move quickly
off the screen when the start bar is not docked horizontally are also fixed.
Users who dock their start bar on the sides of their screen will now be able
to read messages generated from Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (beta). This
issue is what we dubbed the "Flying Toast Issue" and one which I was
passionate about getting fixed in this refresh build.
3) Support for Long Descriptions: Users of older builds only have access to
the short descriptions which ship as part of the signatures. These short
descriptions only provide limited information about potentially unwanted
software. Long descriptions in build 613 will help users by giving them more
information about the potentially unwanted software detected on their PCs.
4) Improved Winsock LSP removal mechanism: In some cases, removing spyware
LSPs, or can disrupt network functionality. Through enhancements made in
this beta refresh, we've lessened the chance that this problem will occur.
This is a very exciting release, and one which will greatly improve the user
experience on this excellent product.

I still havn't got the 1.0.613 that everyone is talking
about. Some say it installs automaticaly, but mine
hasn't. How do I get it and should I un-install the
1.0.509 version first. Thanks for any help.

I've downloaded this version ans I am testing it again,
after I did uninstall it earlier when I got to many
problems (I've reported them)

Regards,

Jaap

I get that too. In fact, I downloaded 1.0.613,
uninstalled 1.0.509, rebooted, installed the downloaded
exe and it STILL says 1.0.509 and expires 7/31/05. WTF?

Preparing for Installation of Microsoft AntiSpyware

The new version of Microsoft AntiSpyware automatically
removes the older version. If you have an older version,
you can transfer your existing option settings to the new
version of the program automatically when the new version
installs.

Before you install AntiSpyware, use these suggestions to
prepare your computer:

If you have any other anti-spyware programs on your
computer, you should uninstall them and restart your
computer before installing Microsoft AntiSpyware. Although
removing other anti-spyware programs is not necessary it
is recommend because it is possible that Microsoft
AntiSpyware could detect spyware that has already been
quarantined by another anti-spyware program if the other
program has not secured its quarantined files.

To uninstall other anti-spyware programs, see the user
documentation that came with the program.

Close all other Windows programs before installing
Microsoft AntiSpyware, including those programs displayed
in the Windows tray.

I suppose the installer is placed on few mirrors and not all contain the
current version for the moment. When you download it just check the size of
downloaded executive file - old version was about 6.3 MB, the new one is
about 6.5MB.
It happened to me few times that I was provided the older version, but at
third or fourth try it was the proper one. So just keep trying.

This is not beta2, this is a refresh of the current beta with some
significant bugs fixed. Sorry you're disappointed, but don't look for a
major change in these refresh releases.
