I received this message while re-installing Win2k on a
Dell Latitude notebook...

No help in the kb.

Does this soud familiar to anyone?

The error happened in Partmgr. Oh, and the reason was that
the hard drive crashed. It's the old bizarre error message
trick... Fools 'em every time...

False alarm...
