Hello, I am currently trying to run a system restore, reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition onto a Compaq Presario for a friend.

Each reset after formatting the harddrive in my personal PC, it goes into windows restore and begins loading the files from the cd. After about 10-15mins it stops, screen flashes, and I get
0x00000067: CONFIG_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

And it tells me to go into bios and turn off Cache Shadowing, tho Despite several checks I never found any such option.

The HDD has been compeltely formatted, yet most error codes I find online say it has to do with windows files.

Any help would be appreciated, or email. (e-mail address removed), thx everyone

Do Compaq still store part of the BIOS on the hard drive as they used to?
Are you using recovery disks or a full version of XP?

Friend who owns the PC sent me a disc he said through was what I needed.

Turned out to be the cd to install drivers for lightscribe I do believe lol.

I was trying to use a full version seperate friend owned, compaq had posted a cd key on the side of Friend A's pc so was gonna use it to install but never got the chance.

I think I should also note, I tried using a different HDD to use full install XP, same problem.

Tried using a different CD-ROM.
Tried Different Ram to see how it would effect loading into BIOS.
Thought about removing the BIOS Battery but didn't.
