0utlook 2007 address book

I imported my contacts into outlook 07 from outlook 00 and all showed up
fine. The probelm I am having is when I am typing an email and click to to
choose an address I see all my contact folders that I set up as different
groups and when I click on my "frends" group folder it shows all the names
but the email address does not show up next to it. If I export the fiel to a
csv I can see all the email addresses in there proper columns and they all
show a display as entry. I am very confused with why the email address is not
populating in the address book. Please help!!

That's a mistake. Importing loses data.

Importing often leaves mail addresses unresolved, causing them to not appear
in the address book interface.
If I export the fiel to a csv I can see all the email addresses
in there proper columns and they all show a display as entry. I am
very confused with why the email address is not populating in the
address book.

Delete the contacts you imported. Open the original PST with
File>Open>Outlook Data File. Open the COntacts folder int hat PST, select
all the contacts with Ctrl-A, then drag the selection to your default
Contacts folder.
 
What if I don't have the original pst file any more. I had made a backup by
exporting to csv for my contacts incase my computer ever crashed. My computer
died so I used the backup to restore contacts on new computer.
 
importing the CSV is fine. If you click the To button and can see the
addresses, they have an email address. It sounds like the display name is
not showing the address though. When you open a contact, what do you see for
the display name?

Never get rid of the origional data until you know beyond a doubt the new
environment works. That's just common sense.

You'll need to modify each bad contact to force Outlook to resolve the
address. One tools that can help is the *free* "Resolve E-mail Address
Utility" found at http://www.chapura.com/downloads_utilities.php
I had made a
backup by exporting to csv for my contacts incase my computer ever
crashed.

You are misguided thinking that a csv is a valid backup. Never use
export/import in order to transfer data Outlook-to-Outlook. Just make a
copy of the original PST while Outlook is closed.
 
A CSV is a valid back up - its smaller than a pst, does not require outlook
to access, and works well with other applications.

If the name shows up when he clicks To, the addresses should be resolved.
He can check by looking at the actual contacts he imported - the email
address is underlined, they are resolved. If the selections work and the
mail goes out they are resolved.

I used a csv so I could open in excel if need be with out outlook. As far as
not having the original pst, I didn't discard by choice. As I said my old

Perhaps you could mount the old disk in your new PC and recover that way.
If, say, the motherboard died, the disk drive may be intact.

Hi,

I have some contacts with unresolved email addresses. I cannot get that
utility to work on Vista because "This program requires MSVBVM50.DLL, which
is no longer included in this version of Windows," according to the Details
of the Program Compatibility Assistant that appears when I try to run it.

Do you know of any Vista-compatible utilities for this issue on Outlook
2007? I Installed Office 2007 on a new computer, and opened my old PST from a
previous version of Office.
