have tried the suggested create a new toolbar and place shortcuts in
it that show up on the "quick launch" bar. but i dont want want
shortcuts to unopened apps to appear on same line as opened apps.
is there a way to position the new toolbar somewhere else on the
desktop?

office 2003 doesn't have a shortcut bar... what toolbar are you using?

BTW, if you want the quick launch bar from older versions, do a custom
install of office xp or 2000 and install just it.

Interesting. Can you tell us HOW to do a custom install of the Office
Shortcut bar from the Office 2000 CD? This would be great news indeed.
Please dish. Thanks.
