Windows XP Some programmes & files misbehaving!!

Hey,

Just wondered if anyone knows any reason why some programmes and files are not doing what they are meant to on my computer? E.g. i had google earth working fine for a couple of months, then i installed the update and when i clicked on it, it just wouldnt open. So i uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version, and same thing, just click on the icon and no response at all.

This happens with a couple of photos too. All my pics work, except about 3 i have, where you click on them and they open and instantly shut down or just dont open at all.

do have anti virus and antispy programs?? if not get some and run them you could have spyware or a virus or you might have some corrupt files

1)lavasoft adaware (free)
2)spybot s&d(free)
3)spyware blaster(free)
 
Its not virus or spyware, im up to date with all that malarky. Its some other little demon somewhere!! :-/
