Windows Vista Blank Windows load screen

my friends laptop wont work it powers up then it gets to the
windows load screen and the load bar moves up and down
3 times then the screen gose blank and nothin happens??? can
anyone help????
 
Does the same thing happen if you start Windows in Safe Mode? Also, which version of Windows are you using?
 
First of all, try leaving the blank screen for a few mins and see if anything happens in the background. If not, try the following to options from the boot menu to see if that helps:

"Last Known Good Configuration" - This should restore your last known config that worked, worth a shot.

"Enable low-resolution video" - I doubt this will fix it, but if there are problems with the resolution/refresh rate causing the blank screen it may let you see the desktop (had this problem once when changing a graphics card).

Should both of these fail, I would boot from your Vista CD and perform a repair install.
