Windows Vista 98SE to Windows Vista

Having just bought a new computer with Vista home premium all my work is trapped in my old computer which runs 98SE and XP Office standard (2002), all incompatible with Vista. Would it be possible to download by flash drive to a later version of XP, if I can find or borrow another computer, and then re-download to Vista running its compatability program?

Why not just plug the old hard drive into your new system?
You should still be able to access your stuff, but may have issues running it.

What file types are you working with?

Are you using MS Office 2007 or MS Office 2003 on your new PC?

I'll be able to advise further if you could please give more detail about what you are actually trying to achieve :)
